Safe and sound in Kona!

We are here and ready to collapse -- but it is worth it!

We left before 5:30 AM and drove through the pouring rain to get to the airport. There was a lot of hydroplaning and streaming water which made it tricky, but the most terrifying part was when a car spun out just in front of me along the Shoreway. Bill saw it (I was happy to see any kind of lines) and we avoided it just fine. Got to the airport on time.

Then the skycab was so kind to give us our gate numbers in both Cleveland and Chicago. No problems getting to Chicago and we dutifully went to gate C17 as instructed. We sat there for over 1 1/2 hours before boarding. At 22 minutes before take-off, I wondered why we weren't boarding and went to check the screen only to find that this flight was going to California!! Holy crud, Batman -- we're in the wrong gate!! As we kicked it into high gear, we desperately searched for a screen of departures. I looked over at C16 and saw the magic word "Kona" and we were able to get on board with time to spare. Thank goodness we didn't miss the flight out -- needless to say, that would not have made for a great start.

Naira and Chuck greeted us at the airport and we went off to a nice reception and dinner. Photos and more will have to come tomorrow as I have officially been up for over 24 hours. Good training for Saturday!!

Great to hear you made it safe and sound!

I had a car in front of me spin out in a downpour on 90 4 years ago. I don't think I've ever been that scared! Glad you made it past it without incident.

Hope the weather is wonderful and you soak in as much of the Kona experience as possible. I'm living vicariously through you, ya know!

Mom, We miss you! Liam says that he got very far on his independent study and did a great job! Conor says he read a book about sticky, smelly feet and did awesome on his homework. The boys have been great help around the house and have been behaving so well! Got to go but will talk to you soon! (The LEGOS are waiting!) Love, Liam, Conor, and Kristen
