Shoes, nutrition and personal training

This week I finally ordered my shoes - 5" acrylic heels with a clear little strap that I suppose will hold me up should I slip (ha ha) . . . can't wait to get them on and see how comfortable (oxymoron?) I can get in them.

Probably my biggest decision was selecting my nutrition coach - John Henry Creel from Mind & Body Fitness. We meet next Sunday to start this process. John Henry has a focus on nutrition and has worked with figure competitors, as well as, Miss Ohio, and the Cavalier dance girls.

Today was my 2nd personal training session with Lloyd and both sessions have kicked my butt. My hip is giving me problems and slipped out of place, which warranted another trip to the Physical Therapist. He now wants me in the infamous "butt band" for the next 30 days. So I'm walking around with an odd shaped butt and avoiding certain lifts to see if I can keep this damn thing in place (at least until I try the aforementioned heels . . . ).

Hopefully a productive week ahead!

Pre-training pics

OK, I had to try on the competition suit one more time before I start working with my trainer, Lloyd, tomorrow morning! And this time I didn't jam my shoulder blades together resulting in a look more akin to a chicken than a nice "V". . . .

I found my shoes and plan to order them next week -- and I really do need practice walking in them before October. I tried Michelle's shoes on at work and she had to tell me to bend my knees -- doh!

Finally, I am very close on the nutrition plan. I contacted three people last week and have heard from all of them. I'm leaning toward a guy who really seems to know what he's doing. More money than I planned, but I think it will be well worth it.

Let the games begin!

OK, preview time . . .

Here's a peek at the competition suit!!

I did get my body fat done with caliper testing yesterday and I registered a 14.92%, so I'm definitely at a great starting point. I contacted three different nutritionists today and am waiting to hear from them to see who I will work with. Next up, personal trainer and SHOES!! I think I may be behind the learning curve for 5" heels, man!

Something new!

Oh it has been a long time since I posted! I'm off on a new adventure, so it is time to document this journey . . .

I'm planning to compete in a figure competition in October. Definitely something I never expected to do, so here we go!

My friend, Michelle, is actually the instigator here. She did her first last April and then again this April. We worked together during her first competition, so i got to see her transformation almost every day. She is also the reason I've been lifting more diligently than ever before -- and heavier weights!! So now, I'm going to give it a try and hope to not wind up on YouTube.

My first news is that I got my competition suit today!! It is awesome and everything I expected. I'm working on shoes next -- assuming I can actually walk in 5 inch heels . . . perhaps my biggest challenge!

So much to learn . . . . but I'm looking forward to every step along the way.

OK, my first fun fact -- I put the suit on to see how it fit and Conor's comment after watching me practice quarter turns, was "round buns" . . . I'm gonna take that as a compliment!
