It's all about the booty, baby . . .
OK, I am finally posting after an extended absence thanks to Leon, Jim and Kevin's prodding . . . .
I had to return to full-time status at work last month and it is really busy (understatement!). I am getting up around 4:30 AM to get to my much shortened workout and off to work at 7:30. The desire to return to long course racing next year may be kaput. Thus. . . . .it is all about the booty!
A few weeks ago my friend Michelle completed her personal training certification and I came across one of her training magazines -- Glutes (yes, entirely about the booty and booty development). "Love your butt", "Three weeks to bubble butt", "Shape your money maker" -- Money Maker???? Alright, I'm intrigued. I've never done any glute specific training, just minimal all around weights. Soooo, anyway I took this as a challenge to try something different. Plus, having a 40+ year old ass, if not now, when? That coupled with my reduced training time and I'm in booty camp, baby!! Three weeks in and I don't know if I've achieved "bubble butt" status, but I do see and feel a difference . . .
I couldn't finish this post with mentioning my "dork shoes". The MBT -- Masai Barefoot Technology -- shoes are "booty shoes", ok, mine look goofy as hell, but they do work my butt and thighs. Michelle hates that I wear them to work (and I think Leon and Jim secretly laugh behind my back) but when has other's opinions stopped me . . . ?
The bonus from all this booty training -- I'm hoping for NO MORE BUTT BAND!! Yes, you heard correctly. I have neglected my glute training for oh, 20 years or so. Hmmmm, I've had a lot of hip problems in recent years. . . . do the math. I'm up to a whopping 1.25 miles in running, but I'm not using the butt band. (Sorry, Mickey!)
So we'll see if this all pays off. I've ordered next year's swimsuits from my favorite tri clothing manufacturer - DeSoto Sport, so I better be in bootylicious shape by then . . .
Happy Holidays and safe training!!

hmm you will have to let us know if the booty training does indeed release you from the butt band! I have been doing great with just one added strength training day and one yoga day a week. No hip issues since I started that routine thankfully!
